A FREE multi-arts festival is returning this weekend - and is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Live music, comedy, street theatre, magic and art are some of the few activities to be witnessed in Ulverston as part of Another Fine Fest this weekend.

The event will take place on two outdoor stages within 10 partner venues with a myriad of UK artists painting shop windows and pop-up art zones.

The event celebrates Stan Laurel's birthday on June 16 in the town of his birth.

Organiser Dave Crosley said: "It is our 10th anniversary this weekend and we are so excited to see you all and enjoy some celebratory times with you.

"All whilst hopefully raising lots of funds for St Mary's Hospice and Ulverston Food Project."

The festival will have comedy acts seen on shows such as Live At The Apollo, Roast Battle, Russell Howard and 8 out of 10 Cats. Names include Shenoah Allen, Gavin Webster and Brennan Reece live from the Laurel and Hardy Museum.

Some other highlights at Another Fine Stage based outside the Laurel and Hardy Museum are a multi-channel silent Disco with rock, metal, indie and DJs.

Dave added: "This is been the hardest one to make happen in our 10-year history what with all the spiralling costs and many events cancelling throughout the country. We feel very lucky to still be here and want to say a massive thanks and give love to everyone who have supported us.

"Fingers crossed if we generate enough funds on the weekend we will be able to return next year."

The festival will implicate several road closures from 8am on Saturday morning until 8pm on Sunday on Market Place, Market Street, New Market Street and Cross Street.

Brogden Street outside the Roxy Cinema will be closed from 6pm Friday until 8pm Sunday.

Union Street will be closed from 8am until 5pm on Saturday (15th) and 8am until 5pm on Sunday.

Theatre Street car park will be closed from 6pm on Thursday until 10pm on Sunday (16th) for a young children's fairground.

Extra parking will be available at Ford Park on Saturday for a £5 donation to the charity for all day parking.

However, this may be subject to weather and could be cancelled if the ground is too wet.
