Chetwynde Primary School enjoyed a ‘really successful’ sports day, and here are the pictures to prove it…

Hundreds of children between the ages of three and 11 took part in a range of track and field events including sprint and distance races, relays, long jump and hurdles.

The sun was shining on Thursday June 8, as the children competed across their four school houses, Sceptre in green, Vanguard in blue, Spartan in red and Valiant in yellow.

The day included 225 children from Kindergarten, all the way up to Year six, and saw a host of fun events such as sack races, hurdles and a tug of war.

After exhausting themselves by throwing javelins, balancing eggs on spoons and bean bags on their heads, pupils gathered to find out who won. The overall winners of Sports Day 2024 were Vanguard.

Head of Chetwynde Primary School, Reece Edwards said: “It was a really successful day, and everyone enjoyed it. There was lots of talent on show and the pupils showed really good teamwork supporting each other. A big thank you to the staff – including our site team - who all helped make this such a fantastic event.”

Sports Day was also supported by Chetwynde PTA, who raised more than £200 by selling refreshments.

The school thanked all the parents who turned up to show their support and congratulated the children for pushing themselves to do their best.
