A teacher from Ulverston has published his first book, which is made up of a collection of poems for children.
John Svatins, who teaches at Castle Park in Kendal, released ‘There's a Mole in my Bucket' on Thursday May 9.
After teaching for more than three decades, and spending 20 of those years in Cumbria, John decided to put together his first book.
He described the poems as ‘funny’ and said they are aimed primarily at young children between the ages of seven and 12 years old.
The book has been illustrated by John’s daughter and has been self-published in collaboration with local company Pixel Tweaks.
In the future, John plans to deliver poetry workshops in primary schools to build an excitement about reading and writing poetry.
He is two trial visits this summer, first at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School in Dalton on June 13, then at Crosthwaite Primary School in Kendal on July 7.
John’s book is available to order through bookshops and the internet.
