A DRINKING establishment in Barrow has been handed a new food hygiene rating.

The Ship Inn, a pub, at Ship Inn, Yarlside Road was given a score of four out of five after assessment on April 17, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

The establishment was inspected by a food safety officer from Westmorland and Furness council who rated the place as 'Good'.

The hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage was found to be 'generally satisfactory'.

 

The standards found of the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building which includes having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control were 'good'

The management of food safety was also rated 'good'.

It means that of Westmorland and Furness's 388 pubs, bars and nightclubs with ratings, 314 (81%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
