Antiques Road Trip star David Harper, has picked his top motors from the Lakeland Motor Museum.

A regular on British televisions, Mr Harper is known for his expertise in antiques and classic cars which he often gets to experience on his BBC show.

During a private visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum, he selected his four favourite exhibits, each holding a unique personal significance.

On his Facebook page, Harper shared his top car selections, which included the 1957 Humber Hawk Estate, reminiscent of his grandmother’s car, Donald Campbell’s Bentley in Bluebird colours, a Citroen DS which he regrets selling, and a Yamaha FS1E moped prompting memories of his teenage years.

The Mail: The Humber Hawk has just 45,000 miles on the clock

Mr Harper said: "I’ve visited the museum several times over the years and each time is as good as the last.

"It’s great to see some new additions, but just as thrilling to see my old favourites…you even get a whiff of oil in places, which is just wonderful!"

The Mail: Donald Campbell’s Bentley was one of the standouts

The Humber Hawk was donated to the museum after nearly 40 years in storage and still only has 45,000 miles on the clock.

Among the classic and vintage cars, Donald Campbell’s 1937 Bentley stands out.

The Mail: David regrets selling his Citroen DS

Bought by the record holder for the world land and water speed in February 1949, it still boasts his personal St Christopher badge on the dashboard.

The 1970s Citroen DS was famous for its suspension system and futuristic design.

Finally, the Yamaha FS1E moped, an affordable transport for thousands of teenagers in the past, holds a unique charm for the antique expert.

The Lakeland Motor Museum presents a phenomenal collection of 30,000 exhibits including 140 classic cars and motorbikes.

Open seven days a week, the collection is carefully curated to bring special motoring memories to life.
