UNSIGHTLY fencing has finally been replaced around the site where a children's play park used to stand in Dalton.
In 2018, local residents around Storey Square came home to the play park dismantled as a result of budget cuts made by Barrow Council two years prior.
Residents have felt the area has been neglected for some time and it has been an almost two-year wait to fix the perimeter around the grass area.

Residents, along with Dalton South Councillor Dave Taylor, have contacted Westmorland and Furness council many times with concerns that holes in the fencing, along with dislodged planks, would cause an injury to a child or pet.
This week however contractors have been spotted carrying out work to the fences.
Councillor Taylor said: " I am extremely pleased that the new fencing around Storey Square has started to be replaced. I'd like to thank the W&F officers and my Dalton South colleague Tony Callister for their help in making that happen.
"It has been a long wait for us to obtain new fencing but should be worthwhile once the work is complete.
"It will enhance the area and be a lot more safer for the children who use the area to play."
