A popular 24 hour gym in Barrow celebrated a successful reopening after work was carried out to build a new mezzanine floor.

The Transformation Unit 247 temporarily closed last week, for the first time in two years, while the space was remodelled to expand the exercise area.

Gym owner, Kade Kendall, invested over £40,000 in refurbishing the space and opening up a second floor.

The plan to add a mezzanine was based on feedback from gym members, who were keen to see a ‘bigger and better’ gym tailored to pursuing a fitness journey.

Before the upgrade, Kade said the gym felt full and quite busy, but now, with double the floor space, everyone has plenty of space to move around in.

After closing the doors on Friday, Kade and his team had four days to complete a turnaround from building site to newly updated, state of the art gym.

Kade said they worked around the clock to take the club to the next level and give the members exactly what they want.

The main gym now stretches over two floors, with entire sections dedicated to training your arms or legs. The functional area has been extended to accommodate more classes and the equipment is better spaced out.

Kade has many goals and targets for his business, including reaching one thousand members, which he is just a handful of people away from achieving.

At the reopening event on Monday, April 29, the Transformation Unit teamed up with supplement company, Ghost, to welcome everyone back with some free samples. They welcomed 432 people, who came to take a look around, check out the new and improved club and think about joining the gym.

Kade said he ‘hasn’t finished yet’ and promises members that he will always be improving the gym and sees ‘endless potential’ for the future.

The makeover also included a crafted metal sign saying, ‘Level up’, making a nod to both the gym’s progress and that of its patrons.

Kade said: “I would like to thank all of my family and friends who got stuck in and gave their support. One of my best mates, Jon Fell, who was with me from start to finish, working a total of 60 hours over four days.

“Dan James, who has captured the full process, the lads from Carpet World, my supplement supplier and Ghost. As well as all the companies and people who worked and made this possible.”

With support from members and the community, Kade is confident he can make the Transformation Unit into the best gym facility in Barrow.

He said: “If people invest in me, I’ll work to give them the best gym possible.”
