A brand new defibrillator has been installed at the front of Coniston Sports and Social Centre.

The British Heart Foundation provide a limited number of funded defibrillators in each annual funding cycle.

Applications are reviewed monthly against a set of criteria so awards can be made to communities that need them most.

Areas prioritised include those with fewer registered defibrillators and communities where local health needs indicate a higher risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Located on Shepherds Bridge Lane, the Coniston centre has become a growing community hub in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

Just a two-minute walk from Coniston Village, the life-saving equipment in an excellent location.

The emergency defibrillator was installed last week and is located right by the centre's main door.

Staff at the leisure centre advise that if it is ever needed, then 999 can be dialled to obtain the access code.

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest.
