An under 8s football team in Millom is raising funds to take part in an international football football tournament in 2025.

The team will then be the 'under 9s' when they hope to arrive in Barcelona to play teams from all over the world on April 26 and 27, 2025.

A minimum of £6500 needs to be raised to cover the cost of accommodation, competition entries as well as  the children getting to Barcelona.

So far, the team has been around the town asking for donations from businesses.

In three days, it has manage to raise almost £1400 and is still awaiting more donations.

Coach Joe Moyes said: "We feel our kids miss out on the privileges of having state of the art equipment and 4g pitches due to where we live in Millom.

"Why can't we have these nice things for our kids to have to best possible start in there football journeys?

"When was the last professional footballer you seen on your tv screen from Millom?

"You never know they could be in this bunch. Let's get Millom on the map again for the right reasons."

The team has set up a Go Fund Me page to donate which also has a list of upcoming events that are going to raise money for charity.
