A school in Barrow was forced to close today (April 29) due a burst water main in the area.

Both Roose Primary School and Roose Nursery, located on North Row in Roose, had to close their doors due to the water issue.

The school posted to its Facebook page early this morning to let parents know.

According to the United Utilities website, which was updated this afternoon (April 29) at 2:15pm, some homes still have no water whilst others are still experiencing low pressure.

Th LA13 and LA13 postcode areas of Barrow and Ulverston are believed to be affected.

A United Utilities spokesperson said: "There is a burst water main in the Roose area. The team is currently on site and repairs are under way.

"In the meantime, we have brought in our ‘water on wheels’ tankers and residents may see them out and about pumping water directly into the system.

"This will keep the taps flowing for most customers who have been affected but a small number may experience poor pressure or no water until the pipe repair is finished.

"We’re very sorry about this and we are working to get supplies back to normal as quickly as possible."
