The Lake District has been crowned the UK’s most Instagrammable national park, reveals a new study by travel deal experts at Tripplo.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site saw a staggering total of 5,150,856 tagged posts on Instagram.
The hashtag #lakedistrict featured on 4,340,437 posts while #lakedistrictnationalpark featured on 569,348 posts.
The Tripplo study involved assessing the total number of posts tagged at all 15 recognised UK national parks, combining commonly used names and full names as hashtags.
Following the Lake District, the Peak District National Park received 2,866,251 hashtagged posts, and the Northumberland National Park 1,826,099.
Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park and the New Forest National Park round off the top five with 1,651,698 and 1,185,295 hashtagged posts respectively.
Axel Hernborg, founder of Tripplo, said: "As the temperatures rise and the days lengthen, many of us are keen to explore the UK countryside, especially since all the country's national parks are free to enter.
"With the Lake District attracting more than 18 million visitors each year, it is no wonder it has also been found to be the most Instagrammable.
"With its picturesque villages, such as Grasmere and Keswick, plus the natural features, including Lake Windermere and Aira Force Waterfall, the Lake District is undeniably one of most scenic getaways in the UK.”
