THIS week Cumbria Freemasons hosted the first Masonic Fishing Charity event of the year.
The event was held at Lupton Tarn, near Kendal and welcomed children from Sandgate school, in Kendal and Sandside Lodge, in Ulverston.
They explained that fishing allows children with additional needs to meet new challenges, provide a stimulating fishing experience, and achieve tangible results to take away.
Neil Dixon, a spokesperson for Cumbria Freemasons said: "The Masonic Fishing Charity’s aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people and children with additional needs.
"We want to help others, who would not usually have the opportunity, and to share and benefit from the pleasure that fishing in natural surroundings can bring.
"Charity is an integral part of the core principles of Freemasonry and the fishing events that we organise are part of our personal commitment to working in the community.
"We had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from Sandgate school, near Kendal and Sandside Lodge, Ulverston helping them enjoy fishing and experiencing the outdoor experience, in a safe setting, with the weather being extremely kind."
