THE Police have had to drop a suspected violent assault in Bowness due to 'low-quality' CCTV and difficulty in obtaining witness statements.
The police confirmed that there was an investigation following a report of assault and threats with a pointed article in Old England Hotel in Bowness on November 9, 2022.
A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Officers arrested a man in connection to the incident after arriving on the scene.
"Enquiries were carried out and efforts have been undertaken to obtain as much evidence as possible.
"However, factors including difficulties in obtaining witness statements and the poor quality of available CCTV unfortunately meant there was little realistic prospect of conviction or to meet the evidential threshold needed to refer the case to the Crown Prosecution Service."
