A MUM whose seasonal decorations bring joy to passersby said she was 'annoyed' after security footage caught a man swiping ornaments.

Decorations outside Chelsea Fisher's family home on Hart Street in Ulverston were taken late at night.

Chelsea contacted the police after a large gnome and a bumblebee decoration were taken from outside her house on Wednesday April 10.

A security camera caught video footage of a man. The recording showed him walk past the property before turning back, grabbing the decorations and running off.

Chelsea said: “I'm actually really annoyed. The decorations have been outside for quite a while and the local little ones always say hello to them.

“My house has been featured in The Mail and also on BBC radio for last year’s Halloween decorations.

"My neighbour and I decorate for every occasion.

"So, for someone to come past and steal a gnome and a bumblebee is really pathetic.

“I'm a single parent with young autistic people at home so it's quite unsettling to be honest.”

The neighbours began putting up outdoor decorations to keep people’s spirits up during the Covid-19 lockdown.

For Halloween 2023, Chelsea decked her house out with skulls and dead bodies wrapped in black plastic bags.

She also had spiders crawling the walls and cobwebs covering the front.

Cumbria Constabulary said a report came on April 11 that a man had walked past a house on Hart Street, Ulverston, and stolen a large garden gnome and a large bumblebee from the resident’s garden.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any information can report via 101 quoting log 220 of 11 April.”
