HOT tubs, seating and a play area must be removed from a Lake District pub.

A government inspector has ordered the removal of lighting posts, part of a seating and play area as well as hot tubs from land to the west of Garr Lane in Torver in connection with The Wilson Arms.

Plans lodged for CCTV cameras at new SPAR coming to Grange

PLANS have been lodged to install over a dozen CCTV cameras on a former shop in south Cumbria as part of the development of a proposed convenience store.

James Hall and Company Limited has submitted proposals to Westmorland and Furness Council to add 15 CCTV cameras and one dome camera to the former Age UK Concern shop on Lindale Road in Grange.

New parking restrictions coming to Barrow town centre

NEW parking arrangements are coming to Barrow town centre.

Members of the Furness locality board are recommended to approve proposals to vary a traffic regulation order on Preston Street as motorists are ‘abusing the use’ of loading-only parking places.

Proposal to remove affordable homes from Dalton development rejected

PLANS to remove the requirement for a developer to build affordable homes on a site in Dalton have been turned down – with one councillor saying: ‘We want that contract fulfilling’.

Members of Barrow in Furness local area planning committee for Westmorland and Furness Council voted against officers’ recommendations and refused to modify a legal agreement made with the applicant Harry Barker Properties Ltd.

20mph speed limits coming to these roads on Walney Island, Barrow

THE speed limit on several roads on Walney Island is set to be reduced as part of plans to create a ‘safe environment for walking and cycling’.

Members of the Furness locality board for Westmorland and Furness Council are recommended to approve plans to lower the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on a number of roads in North Walney as part of proposals for an active travel scheme.

Tree felling on Barrow street postponed to 'engage' with residents

TREES on a Barrow street earmarked for felling will not be axed until October at the earliest to allow time to ‘engage with residents’.

Westmorland and Furness Council has paused plans to fell 19 trees on Infield Park and will now engage in a consultation period with residents to discuss options.
