A WOMAN has pleaded guilty to assaulting a police constable in Barrow.

Samantha Singleton, 37, of Schooner Street in Barrow, admitted she assaulted PC Hannah Robinson, who was acting in the exercise of her functions, by beating her, when she appeared at the Sessions House building at Preston Crown Court on March 27.

The offence took place on November 4 last year in Barrow.

The court heard the offence was committed while she was subject to a previous community order.

Singleton initially offered no indication of plea to the charge at magistrates court but confessed her behaviour at a plea and trial preparation hearing at the crown court after seeing the incident on CCTV, the court heard.

Her Honour Judge Heather Lloyd adjourned the case for a full pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Singleton was given unconditional bail and ordered to attend court on June 11 for her sentencing.
