A hospice in Ulverston is hoping that a special theatre production will further illustrate its importance to the area.

As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week in May, St Mary's Hospice has teamed up with the Forum Theatre in Barrow to host a 'Love, Life and Death' event.

On Thursday, May 9, Pluto Productions will be performing the play ‘Blue Skies’ written by Brian Daniels.

The play focuses on the importance of hospice care and open dialogue through the eyes of a young man confronted with the prospect of losing his mum.

Following the performance, hospice staff will be encouraging conversations around this subject in a relaxed and supportive space as well as showcasing the work of St Mary’s Hospice.

This year’s theme for the national Dying Matters Awareness week, ‘The way we talk about Dying Matters’, focuses on the language that people use, and conversations they have, around death and dying.

This event is open to everyone and is free, and you can book your place here.
