A MAN has cycled 100 miles to his 'amazing' wedding day with friends and family.

Chelsea Pearson, 29, who works as a finance manager tied the knot in Windermere to David Pearson, 30, a financial analyst.

The couple met at work and got talking at a social event on a pub quiz when they were placed on the same team.

They got engaged on their third-year anniversary back in February 2022.

"It was a massive surprise I was not expecting it at all. It was at our house which was lovely over an anniversary meal that David had cooked for me," said Chelsea.

"David joked that the only way he would get married was if we both cycled to the Lakes. He settled for me driving and him cycling in the end, so he treated himself to a new bike as an anniversary present and cycled the 100 miles on the day before the wedding through the downpours."

Broadoaks Country House in Windermere was the chosen spot for their wedding with 45 day guests during the day and 60 evening guests.

Being lovers of the lakes, the pair booked and planned their wedding in 13 weeks, whilst on maternity leave looking after newborn twins.

"We love the lakes so when we spotted last-minute availability back in October we booked straight away," said Mrs Pearson.

She explained their day was 'amazing' from start to finish with the sun making an appearance.

"I was walked down the aisle by my eldest son Oscar, our twins were carried down by my mum and our 2-year-old was supposed to carry the rings on his tractor but that didn't go to plan.

"We wrote our vows which was such a lovely part of the day. We managed to sneak off down to the jetties of the Lakes to get some photos of just me and David, and we got some funny looks, walking down a muddy path in our wedding outfits.

"There was a street not far from the venue called Pearson Lane which is our last name so we went there for a few photos too. In the evening we had some lovely speeches from our best man, bridesmaids and David.

"The highlight of the evening was our 2-year-old stealing the mic and putting on a show for everyone and we had a caricature artist who was so talented and watching everyone's reactions to his drawings was hilarious."

The couple from Castleford in West Yorkshire had a family moon in Marrakesh, with their four children and David's parents.

Mr and Mrs Pearson would like to thank all the staff at Broadoaks, especially Mel, Darren and Costel at Different Angle for capturing their day and all of their wedding party for travelling to the Lakes to share the day with them.
