TWO mountain rescue teams responded to a man with an ankle injury in the Langdales, Lake District.

While walking with his friends, the man slipped and injured his ankle in the early afternoon of Sunday, March 17. He was then not able to put weight on his foot, and his group were still high up in the Langdale Pikes.

Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team deployed and made their way up towards Loft Crag via the Mark Gate path.

The team realised that because they were low on numbers and there would be a long stretcher carry, they also needed the help of Kendal Mountain Rescue Team.

The two teams co-ordinated, and Kendal approached via Troughton Beck to meet Langdale and Ambleside MRT on the way down.

"Timings worked out perfectly and Kendal appeared as we neared the top of the ghyll," a member of the team said.

"We popped a back rope on the stretcher and made our way down the steep grassy slope, with small groups leapfrogging each other to set up anchors.

"We made it back to the valley before the rain and darkness." The walker was reunited with his friends and they went to receive further treatment.
