A MEMBER of the armed forces is facing prison after an attack involving a steak knife in Barrow.
Sean Callan, 33, whose address was listed on court documents as the Army Training Regiment in Grantham, Lincolnshire, admitted a charge of Section 18 wounding and possession of a bladed article after an incident in York Street.
S18 is unlawfully and maliciously wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Both offences took place on February 1 2022.
He was due to stand trial for the charges at Preston Crown Court on March 20 but confessed to the offences on the day of trial.
Claire Brocklebank, representing Callan, said: “The defendant is aware of the seriousness of the offences and has brought a bag with him to court today.
“He appreciates custody in this case is almost inevitable but he would like to be sentenced with a pre-sentence report.”
The case - and further details of the offences - was not opened by the prosecution.
Recorder Michelle Brown adjourned sentencing until June 10 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Callan was granted conditional bail with a requirement not to contact the victim.
