A WALKER suffered a lower leg injury after slipping on 'muddy ground'.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) reported rescuing a walker on the top of Wansfell Pike, near Ambleside, who had slipped on 'muddy ground' and took a tumble on Friday.

The team explained the walker sustained a 'nasty' lower leg injury and was unable to move.

The team said: "We made our way to the casualty in the sunshine (which seems to be a rarity), and once there we did our stuff and treated them.

"They were then stretchered off the fell for further treatment."

The rescue took two hours to be completed and involved 16 members of the team.
