FESTIVAL organisers are celebrating after they were able to reach the target to deliver the popular event.

The multi-arts festival Another Fine Fest will be returning to Ulverston on June 14, 15 and 16 - marking its 10th anniversary.

The event typically sees thousands of people descend upon Ulverston each year to enjoy an array of festivities.

The festival is an independently produced event with zero guaranteed funding from year to year, relying on the generosity of donors to help pay for Another Fine Fest’s total costs. However, on the last day of the crowdfunding, the target of £18,000 was met.

"It was a sprint to the finish and we genuinely didn't think we'd meet the target," said the festival's director Dave Crossley.

"But one unbelievably generous guy donated over £1,000 to take us over the line with just 40 minutes to go.

"We want to give huge thanks and love to everyone that has shown us such warmth and generosity over the years. That there is so much love for this festival really blows us away.

"We exceeded our original target of £18,000 which means the stretch target of £23,000 has now kicked in. The campaign will stay open for one more week. If we could meet this new target it would really take the pressure off."

Currently, 807 people have donated £19,038 and four days are left to reach the stretch target.

Their unsuccessful application for £30,000 from the Arts Council was a 'big blow' to the free event as it would have been their largest source of funding.

Mr Crossley said: "We appreciate every single donation whether big or small. In an ideal world, each of the 20,000 people that attend would donate just £1 as we don't want anyone to have to donate a lot.

"The more we raise via crowdfunding, the more sustainable we become. With spiralling costs and multiple grassroots events being cancelled, we really appreciate your support more than ever. It ensures that we keep the festival free and that everyone gets paid. We promise that we will do you proud."
