Elisabeth Ashleigh, from the sanctuary, said: "She just appeared in the window of a man who lives in Ainslie Street - almost as if she was looking for help.
"We originally thought that she'd been hawked but after working on her for over an hour we discovered that she's been shot straight through the crop.
"There is an entry wound, and also an exit wound - which makes things a lot messier. The wound appears to be a couple of days old too.
"We have flushed clean, dried and glued the entry-exit wounds and she has been medicated and tube fed.
"We hope she gets better and expect she will now but there is some infection the swelling is hindering her digestion.
"Hopefully the anti-inflammatory pain relief and antibiotics kick in to reduce the swelling as right now she's only managing 5ml feeds."
Bardsea Bird Sanctuary is in the process of reporting the incident to police after they have taken in a number of pigeons with gun shot wounds this year.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
