ALL the headliners have been revealed for an annual underground festival showcasing international and national acts.

Funeral Fest is returning to the Soccer Bar in Barrow on June 28 and 29. The grassroots festival, showcasing talent across the UK and the overseas scene, has been running for several years.

This year's edition will see more acts than ever with 22 bands performing across the two days.

The organisers have revealed the headliners, which include the British heavy metal band Avenger with the London-based Cage Fight set to impress the crowds on Friday and, hailing from Singapore, the grindcore band Wormrot to perform on Saturday.

Coming directly from North America is Morne who are set to deliver their doom-metal sound to the Barrow crowds on Saturday.

The not-for-profit festival will also showcase local bands, including Sharpshooter.

Organiser Matt Davidson said: "When you start going too far out people locally tend to be a bit more distant so I think it is important to have the local side, bringing some collective talent from all over the country.

"There are so many great bands - I always like to provide a selection of genres, I like to have the traditional metal, hardcore, punk and black metal.

"Our whole idea about this is bringing good music to the town because no one else is going to do it for you unless you make the effort. The fact that we try and make it an event so that people can meet other people we believe it is good for the younger bands to get the opportunity to work with major bands."

The organiser said this year they have had 'more words of support than ever'.

"We sold more tickets in advance so far than we did last year without a headliner which is fantastic," he said.
