A school in Barrow is preparing for the visit of a Commonwealth wheelchair basketball player.

Tyler Baines, who has a bronze medal to his name, will be appearing at Greengate Junior School on Tuesday, March 19.

He will be delivering a presentation designed to inspire the pupils as well as promoting good mental and physical health.

Tyler will also be putting children through their paces in a sponsored exercise session in an effort to raise money for the school and Tyler's own training, medical and competition costs.

Organised by Sports for Champions, 60% of the money raised will go to the school, with the remaining 40% solely going to the athlete.

By inspiring children as 'champions of tomorrow', Sports For Champions plan these events to transform young people into 'healthy, active, community-minded participants in society'.
