A MAN from Norfolk breached his sexual harm prevention order less than two weeks after moving to Barrow

57-year-old Paul Ward, of Church Street, will spend six months behind bars.

He was issued with an interim sexual harm prevention order by Norfolk Magistrates Court on November 14, which restricts his access to electronic devices and contact with children.

He moved to Barrow four days later. Within two weeks of receiving the order police found out he was residing in the same address as a child under 16 without the parents knowing Ward's offending history

Ward was arrested and admitted to the offence in his police interview. He was found guilty of breaching the harm order and handed his sentence on March 5 at Preston Crown Court.

DC Lyndsey Mitchell from Cumbria Police said: "Ward was fully aware of the terms and conditions of the interim sexual harm prevention order.

“We were able to intervene and arrest Ward for the breach less than two weeks after his arrival in Cumbria.

"Cumbria Police take the management of sex offenders extremely seriously. We want to make a clear message to registered sex offenders in Cumbria that they will be closely monitored and managed by us."
