MEET the three-year-old dog taking part in the Crufts for the first time.

Barrow dog Eden, also called Cavohanas Pocahontas, is entering the world's greatest dog competition today (Thursday) for the first time on the dog show circuit.

The three-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has earned lifetime qualification, which gives her the golden ticket to participate every year.

Her owner Paulyn Hyde, a dog groomer at Scruffy2Fluffy, has been attending the competition every year for more than ten years.

Ms Hyde said: "I'm looking forward to it - very excited.

"There is joy in taking part and getting her on the greenfield."

When asked about her hopes to win this year, she explained she is just 'glad to participate'.

"It is great fun," said Ms Hyde. "She just had a great bath, so she is ready to go."

Thousands of pooches and their owners will be heading to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham for Crufts 2024, which will take place between March 7 and 10.

The show features a wide range of dog competitions, displaying their dogs' skills and abilities to adoring crowds.
