An independent cinema has used a unique way to raise vital funds to keep its doors open.

The Roxy in Ulverston gave residents and supports the chance to sponsor seats in its screening rooms back in February.

On Sunday, the collective revealed that the nameplates have now been installed, with those who donated £300 getting the dedication whilst also being invited to VIP events.

Boss Charles Morris recently spoke about how cinemas such as the Roxy are facing a battle to stay running, with these sponsorships acting as crucial source of money.

The Roxy Collective, who are behind the current renovations after buying the iconic building, said: "Please remember these are temporary and will look to be updated in the future when the seating is upgraded.

"Next time you’re in for a film showing, why not head in early to check these out and find your name if you’re a sponsor."
