A DOCTOR's surgery has revealed the number of hours wasted by people who fail to turn up to appointments.
Market Street Medical Practice in Dalton says 100 appointments were missed last month, equating to 24 hours of appointment time being wasted due to non-attendance.
The surgery made the announcement on its Facebook page to raise awareness of patients to cancel their appointments if unable to attend.
A post on the Market Street Medical Practice page read: "During the month of February 2784 appointments were offered and attended between our GP’s, Nurses, HCA’s, Physios, Pharmacists and Mental Health team.
"Unfortunately, during the month of February, 100 appointments were not attended, totalling over 24 hours of clinical time; these appointments included eight next-day face-to-face appointments, 21 routine appointments and eight same-day urgent appointments.
"Over 6 hours of nurse clinical time was lost due to patients not attending smears and respiratory clinic appointments.
"If you cannot attend a pre booked appointment please simply reply “cancel” to your text or let the surgery know, please help us to be able to offer those appointments to other patients in need. Thank you."
Last month, the practice also raised the same issue on social media, saying that 75 appointments were missed in January.
