The arrival of a renowned drag star in Barrow was a 'resounding' success.

Ruby DeLong performed her first one woman show 'Painting the Town Ruby' at Barrow Cricket Club on Saturday.

The Drag Queen thanked residents for the support and enthusiasm they showed throughout the evening.

Ruby said: "I'd love to come back and perform in Barrow again.

"The crowd was down for a laugh, and that's all I can ask for - I was welcomed with open arms."

The show proved to be a popular one and has seemingly highlighted a local hunger for more of these performances to come to the area.

The night of entertainment also served as a fundraiser for Brisbane Park School and Hindpool School, bringing in nearly £1,200.

Ruby's praise for the audience was said to match that of the attendees, who were described as being 'enthralled by her performance and infectious energy'.

Ruby got her start at Viaduct in Leeds, performing as part of the Vixens, and has quickly made a name for herself as a powerhouse performer and an amazing host as well as putting on events around the city of Leeds.

She competed in and came second at Drag Idol 2023 and has also used her time to establish popular drag events at Leeds University, perform at Leeds Ball and produce her own themed cabarets for the students of Leeds.

The hope is now that, following the breakthrough show, Ruby and her fellow performers will find a new home in Barrow, giving them a platform for nationwide success.
