A CAT who was rescued as a kitten has gone missing.

RSPCA Furness and Barrow branch put out an appeal for Pumpkin, who was brought to them 'half the weight' of the other kittens in their litter.

Alex, a cat coordinator at the branch, said Pumpkin was a cat that she bonded with once he came into her care.

She said: "Once in a while a kitten or cat in our care, especially when fostering, just bonds with us, this is what happens when I met Pumpkin.

"He had to be hand-fed, by me, to get his weight up. We did it and he's not stopped eating anything and everything since and he melted my heart. He's now gone missing and my heart is broken. Please if you could keep an eye open when you are out and about, check yards and sheds or if you or someone you know has taken him in, please return him, he is so loved and missed."

Alex said that the cat went missing from Lancaster Street on Tuesday during heavy rain. She decided to keep him beyond fostering as they bonded so much when he came into Alex's care.

Pumpkin was the smallest kitten out of the 'Hawcoat Five' litter that the RSPCA successfully trapped last year. Their mother was feral, and she was trapped, neutered and released.
