More than 100 people turned up to the launch of the Dalton Family Hub to discover the range of community support available.

The fun-filled family day held at Dalton Community Centre on Friday, February 16, had a host of games for children of all ages, alongside informative stands manned by community partners.

The Family Hub team were on hand to speak to attendees and provide an insight into the various resources available to families.

These include courses, advice, and information on family life.

Many of those who attended the launch also went to the hub's central launch at Barrow Library in December 2023.

Councillor Sue Sanderson, cabinet member for children’s services at Westmorland and Furness Council, said: "We are delighted that so many people joined us for the launch of the Dalton Hub, whether that be taking part in the games and activities or getting to know the teams that are there to help.

"We hope local families know that they can come to the hub at Dalton for a range of advice and support."

Milorad Vasic, the council's director of children’s services, said: "Family Hubs will become important places and spaces where we can work together to make a difference and support children, young people, and families.

"Westmorland and Furness Council is one of just 13 councils nationwide chosen to receive funding from the Department of Education’s Family Hubs transformation fund."

The Hubs not only focus on advice for families dealing with topics such as finance and mental health, but also physical health, wellbeing, and early-years support.
