WESTMORLAND and Furness Council has announced the opening of a second Family Hub in Dalton.

The Family Hub will be opened at Dalton Community Centre on February 16, with a family open day being held between 11am – 4pm.

There will be activities for young children, teenagers, as well as an assortment of snacks and drinks on offer.

Younger children can enjoy a story tent and activities such as model making, face painting and animal crafts.

On offer for older children are arcade games, air hockey, giant jenga and giant connect four.

Teams at the Family Hubs will be available to advise on many different aspects of day-to-day life such as finance, mental health, physical health, wellbeing and more.

Inspira, Birchall Trust, Health Partners, Family Action, Dropzone, Scouts and many more groups will be available to advise and provide information and guidance if needed.

Milorad Vasic, Director of Children’s Services at Westmorland and Furness Council, said: “Family Hubs will become important places and spaces where we can work together to make a difference and support children, young people, and families.

“Westmorland and Furness Council is one of just 13 councils nationwide chosen to receive funding from the Department of Education’s Family Hubs transformation fund.

Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services added: “We hope local families at the end of half-term will call in for a free snack and a drink, whilst browsing information and chatting to the various friendly teams who can help and support with advice and information.”

The Family Hubs can be accessed by anyone across the Westmorland and Furness area either in person at Dalton and Barrow, or online at the Family Hub website.
