Newbarns Primary and Nursery School pupils have been learning all about the Chinese New Year.
As part of the fun, the children learned how to cook egg fried rice.
Guided by teaching assistant Jin Caine, the pupils were shown how to create the dish and discovered why food is central to the New Year celebration.
They then served their dish to deputy headteacher Victoria Fitzgibbons and told her all about the recipe.
She said the rice, including peas, peppers, and pineapple, was "delicious."
Ms Caine said: "Rice and noodles are symbols of longevity and we gather as a family at Chinese New Year and have a big banquet as it is all about being together."
The celebration included learning the Chinese Zodiac and traditional gift-giving.
"The children have also been learning the Chinese Zodiac and how we gift bright red envelopes to wish our loved ones luck in the year ahead," said Ms Caine.
The school is part of South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust.
