A MAN is to appear in court charged with being drunk while in charge of a car.

Adam Elliot, of Torver Row in Dalton, is alleged to have been over the legal alcohol limit while in control of a 73-plate MG4 EV on Collingwood Street in Barrow on January 21 this year.

A breathalyser test conducted by police is said to have shown the defendant being almost three times over the legal limit having recorded a reading of 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The charge relates to the 29-year-old allegedly being intoxicated before driving had started, or after the driving had finished.

He will give an indication of plea at South Cumbria Magistrates Court on February 5.
