GUESTHOUSE owners are celebrating after winning the 2024 Traveller Review Award.

It is the eighth consecutive year that the owners of Number 19 Guesthouse in Dalton have won a Booking.com Traveller Review Award with a 9.3 out of 10 rating.

The Traveller Review Awards are an annual appreciation programme that recognises Booking.com partners for their hospitality, as demonstrated by the review scores that travellers leave after their stay or experience.

The guesthouse at Crooklands Brow, formerly The Miners Arms pub, has been run for eight years by Luke Habarfield and his partner Sophie.

The owners said they were 'really happy' to receive the award.

Mr Habarfield said: "It shows that we are providing a great service for the area of Dalton and the surrounding area. It shows that we are doing everything correct and our costumers are enjoying their stay which is great. It is a lot of hard work, but obviously, it pays off."

The owner explained they tend to get visitors to visit the South Lakes Safari Zoo, Barrow and the Lake District.

"We have been enjoying our experience running it, and we get a lot of repeat customers," he said.

"My partner tends to put our area in a really good light. We tend to talk about Walney, the nature reserve. We send a lot of people to Roanhead Beach, Bardsea and the local beaches. We try and push people to local attractions.

"The amount of guests that have stayed with us that have enjoyed south Cumbria said that they are going to come back, and that is because we point them in the direction of certain attractions that are local, and they didn't even know they existed, which is great for the local area."

The guesthouse is in the process of liaising with local businesses in Dalton to link up with them to offer discounts to push their guests to enjoy Dalton and the surrounding areas.
