A MAN has been sentenced for drug driving on a moped in Barrow without a valid licence or third-party insurance.
Connor Garrett, of Stanley Road in Barrow, was stopped by officers driving a MGB Fantasy Scooter on Jubilee Bridge heading over to Walney Island on August 4 last year.
Officers conducted a roadside drugs test which showed the 22-year-old had 5 UG/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood, which exceeded the specified limit of 2 UG/L, South Cumbria Magistrates Court heard..
Police checks confirmed the defendant was also driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and on a road without third party insurance.
Garrett pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to the three charges and was banned from driving for a period of 14 months.
He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, court costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
