DOZENS of dead lobsters were found washed up on a beach in Walney.
Danny Halshaw took this picture of a lobster on the morning of January 26 at Biggar Bank.
He said: "There were approximately 20-30 lobsters along the shoreline at my location. Possibly more if I continued on, or before my start position. They were more than likely brought in by the recent storms."
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Creatures like mussels, starfish, crabs and razor clams occupy rocky habitats and unfortunately can be easily dislodged during unsettled weather, onshore winds or spring tides – causing them to be washed ashore.
“We continue to monitor reports of wash-ups and if people do have concerns about pollution they should report it to the Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60 so we can investigate.”
Other creatures such as scorpion fish have been found washed up in Walney in the aftermath of storms Isha and Jocelyn.
