A SPORTS bar in Barrow town centre has closed due to the current financial climate.

MK’s on Abbey Road was a popular pub where locals would gather to watch live sport while enjoying a drink.

However, owners of the establishment announced on Facebook yesterday that they have now closed the doors for the final time.

The post said: “After nine amazing years, we have closed the door of MK’s for the final time.

“The current climate has made things almost impossible with the increase in the cost of raw materials, the huge rise in the costs of heat and power, employing staff and the general costs of running a small business.

“MK’s as a business has unfortunately become unviable.

“We would like to thank every single person that has come through the door – there have been some amazing times over the last nine years, but the time has come to look to the future.”
