A performance by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has received rave reviews following its opening concert in Barrow

The sold-out event took place at the Forum Theatre on January 20.

Led by conductor Domingo Hindoyan, who wore a Barrow AFC scarf, the orchestra performed Bizet’s Carmen, Beethoven 5 and the Beatle’s classic All You Need is Love.

Musician, photographer and videographer John Rennie went along to capture the special debut performance.

He said: "I was working with the Liverpool Phil as a photographer and videographer at the sold out opening concert at The Forum on Saturday.

"It was a real privilege to capture what was a very moving performance of Beethoven No.5. It was so refreshing to watch a live orchestra in Barrow.

"As a musician myself, I'm also excited about the possibility of collaborating with them on a musical project."

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and its musicians will be at the heart of Barrow's musical life for the next three years.

This will include more concerts at The Forum as well as the town hall and includes events that are designed for under-5s and dementia-friendly performances.

Earlier in the week, Domingo Hindoyan visited Dane Ghyll School for a music workshop which saw young instrumentalists play musical games and learn all about his profession.
