Tim Farron has accused the Government of 'dragging their feet' over a growing housing crisis in the Lake District.
The MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale has tabled a motion in Parliament calling on the Government to honour their commitment to allow local authorities in Cumbria to limit the number of new holiday lets.
A decision is still yet to be made by the Government despite their consultation period ending in June.
Mr Farron said: "Seven months after promising to act on the explosion of holiday lets and Airbnb's in our communities, it’s immensely frustrating that the Government are still dragging their feet.
“If the Government don’t crack on with this then we will see our communities die, with nowhere available for local people to stay here."
He added that he would be urging MPs from rural and coastal communities from all parties to sign the motion.
