THE police arrested a 51-year-old man for suspected drink driving and also recovered his vehicle as they said it had no tax.

The man was arrested in Askam on the morning of Monday, January 8.

Halfway through last month, Cumbria Constabulary's Roads Policing Unit had already arrested more than 60 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

The roads policing unit inspector Jack Stabler said: "There is no excuse for drink and drug driving and the strong penalties for those caught reflect that. A drink-drive or drug-drive conviction could easily result in the loss of your license and potentially the loss of your employment."
