A MAN caught drink driving in Barrow has been banned from the roads.
Jason McCormick, of Windrush Crescent in Walney, changed his plea to guilty on the day of his trial at South Cumbria Magistrates Court on January 2.
In admitting his guilt, the 51-year-old confessed to driving his blue Ford Mustang on Dalkeith Street in Barrow while over the legal alcohol limit.
Readings showed he had 54 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when stopped by police on August 26 last year. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Magistrates imposed an immediate 15-month disqualification but offered the defendant the opportunity a drink-driving awareness course that would reduce his ban by 15 weeks.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of £630 as well as court costs of £450 and a surcharge of £252.
