In 2007 at the tender age of 16, Barrow-born Danny Andrews appeared on BBC Three’s Baby Face Body Builders documentary.

He wasn't to know that the short segment of him explaining his stringent diet for his upcoming Mr Cumbria bodybuilding competition would propel him into the public spotlight as much as it did.

In the comical clip which is just over a minute long, the documentary maker follows the now 33-year-old whilst asking him about his food preparation.

He opens up a freezer full of frozen fish and then throws four in a frying pan.

He then goes into great detail about the times throughout the day that he has a fish and a rice cake - also naming the exact times he puts the two together.

The Mail: Danny now runs a barbershop in Fulwood

His daily diet consisted of eight sets of fish and rice cakes, leading to his nickname of ‘fish and rice cakes guy’.

Danny’s personal trainer had put him on a strict diet in the lead-up to the competition so that he could lose two stone.

"'I don't even like fish!" Danny said. "I haven't really eaten it since then and I'm on a much more normal diet for just general fitness such as whole foods, meat and I try to stay away from carbs.

"The thing was about when I did the documentary, I was so young and awkward.

"It's such as short clip so I wasn't really able to portray my full personality. I was nervous and speaking at a camera.

"I did say more in the documentary but obviously that's the bit that the producers loved and I couldn't have predicted how mad the clip went.

"I hated it at first. I'd get comments like people asking if I was on the spectrum or saying things like 'I thought fish was meant to be brain food'.

The Mail: Danny in his local gym"Also when I was 16, I looked a lot older than I was - I was actually in better shape then for the competition than I am now! I think that yellow shirt hid a lot but I was built like a man as a teenager so I don't think people quite got just how young I was.

"I can see the funnier side of it now and so many people have said 'oh the fish and rice cakes diet must have worked'."

Danny went on to have much success in bodybuilding competitions and went on to win Mr Cumbria Junior for two years running.

He also won Mr UK Junior, came fourth in Mr Universe junior and won Mr Blackpool Junior and won Mr Cumbria overall.

Danny moved from Barrow in 2011 to Preston where he now runs a successful barber shop in Fulwood called which he opened in 2013.

The Mail: Danny with his Lakeland Trails marathon medalAlthough he hasn't trained for competitions for a while, he is still very focused on fitness. He has integrated running into his training and does powerlifting with a 190kg bench press.

He recently recreated the famous clip on on his TikTok channel @dannyandrews69, the video has almost 780k views so far - not including re-shares on other TikTokers accounts.

Danny said: "I actually only recreated it for a girl who works on our team in the barber shop. She bought me a yellow-checked shirt in the Secret Santa so I recreated the video in my kitchen and sent it to her.

"I then decided to post it to my TikTok account - I didn't expect that to go as viral as it did either!"
