Vintage vehicle enthusiasts are invited to the Boxing Day gathering at the Lakeland Motor Museum.

The event, known as the Boxing Day Classic Drive and Ride In Day, is poised to be the largest ever hosted by the museum, welcoming aficionados regardless of whether they own a classic or vintage machine.

Chris Lowe, curator at the Lakeland Motor Museum, said: "The Boxing Day Classic Drive and Ride In Day has become a popular festive tradition.

"It’s a lot of fun and a great chance to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air over the holidays.

“Everyone is welcome to pop down."

Over 150 vehicles attended last year, and this year's gathering, scheduled for December 26 from 10am to 1pm, is expected to draw large crowds again.

One classic car owner will have the opportunity to win the "Best of Boxing Day" trophy.

The event also opens its doors to owners of hot hatches, superminis, and high-performance sports cars.

Mr Lowe added: "Every year we are surprised by the wide range of wonderful vehicles that arrive at the museum and we want this year’s meeting to be the biggest ever."

Visitors can view private vehicles on display, visit the museum, or grab refreshments at Cafe Ambio.

Visitors don't need to book in advance, and there's ample free parking for owners to showcase their treasured vehicles.

Drivers and their passengers who participate will receive vouchers for discounted admission to the museum.
