CBeebies presenter Hamza Yassin visited Ulverston in one of his latest episodes of Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest.

In the 13-minute episode, now available to stream on BBC iPlayer, Hamza took his Eco Crew to the Walled Garden in Ford Park in July this year to discover how community gardens play an important role in the environment.

Hamza begins by teaching his three ramblers how gardens like this are a great place for people to relax and enjoy nature.

Community gardens are places where people who might not have access to an outdoor space can come to enjoy nature,” Hamza told his three ramblers.

“They also give a lot of people in the community a place to grow fresh fruit and vegetables to eat. Lots of creatures love to live in community gardens too as they are places for them to shelter and find food.”

The former Strictly Come Dancing winner and Countryfile and Animal Park presenter then explains how they are home to lots of different species of birds, insects and other animals too.

One of the ramblers in the episode commented: “When I look at flowers they make me feel calm and relaxed because sometimes I see bees on them.

During the episode, they also spot insects in the compost and enjoy tasting some food grown locally.
