A CAR dealership has been given the go-ahead by the council to display illuminated advertising signs.

Guy Perry on Phoenix Road in Barrow asked for advertisement consent to display two internally illuminated fascia signs and two non-illuminated totem signs.

Westmorland and Furness cCouncil placed some conditions on the approval, including how bright the sign could be. The maximum luminance of the signage must not exceed 600 candelas per square metre, according to the decision notice.

It also said: "Any advertisement displayed, and any site used for the display of advertisements, shall be maintained in a condition that does not impair the visual amenity of the site."

Guy Perry is a Peugeot and Citroen dealer. The dealership received planning permission at the end of last year to build a Citroen showroom and associated branding.
