A BELOVED Barrow bakery made a shock announcement today (December 11) that it is to close after Christmas.
The Bake Shed has been established on Roose Road for seven years.
The bakery briefly announced it was to close in September of last year however staff carried on trading after its owners retired.
Today, however, it posted a notice to say when its last day of trading will be.
The notice read: "It is with regret that we announce the closure of the Bake Shed, the last day of trading will take place on Saturday 30th December."
"May we thank all our loyal customers for their patronage over the last seven years."
The post amassed a number of comments and dozens of shares. One woman remarked in the comments: "Literally got something from here this morning and thought to myself I hope it doesn’t ever close."
The notice advises all customers who need pies before Christmas to order them before December 15.
