VOLUNTEERS litter-picked a 2km stretch of Windermere's shoreline from Bowness to Cockshott Point.

Eight employees from retailer Water Plus picked up cigarette ends, vapes, tissues and wipes, dog poo bags, crisp and chocolate wrappers and cans, along with broken glass and a disposable BBQ.

Lisa Moore from the group said: "It was great to make a difference for nature and communities in Cumbria."

Between January and November this year, Water Plus employees conducted 117 volunteer days.

"Under our volunteering programme, everyone at our business has the opportunity to do a day of volunteering, each year – and this year has seen our biggest amount of activity yet, which is fantastic," Lisa said.

Water Plus provides water and wastewater billing, and technical water services.
