A PARISH centre has opened as an emergency refuge space following the weather warnings for snow.
The Parish Centre, Vicarage Road in Ambleside, is open for people not able to source accommodation.
This comes after The Met Office issued an amber weather warning for snow covering large sections of south Cumbria, which is in place until midnight.
Lots of abandoned cars in Ambleside now. Some still trying to get through but relative standstill. Snow and the smell of burnt clutches in the air @BBCNEandCumbria @BBCNWT @ITVborder @SkyNewsWeather #a591 #Windermere #grasmere pic.twitter.com/0xOQl0NLfJ

A spokesperson for the Parish Centre said: "If you are within walking distance, the hall is open and provisions are available.
"There is little to no accommodation in the town - we are aware of this. If you cannot source accommodation, please come to the parish centre.
"Please do not attend in your vehicle. Leave this in a safe position."
